The Bowl games yesterday had a lot of top prospects playing including the Top Quarterback and Running Back. We'll Start with the Outback Bowl.
Iowa 31, South Carolina 10
There were a few guys who I was really focused on. We'll start with Shonn Greene the quick powerful running back for Iowa. Greene Led the Hawkeyes to victory with 121 yards and 3 touchdowns. Greene is projected to be the 4th to 6th back taken in the draft and announced after the game he will forgo his senior season and declare for the NFL draft. Greene leads the nation with 1,850 yards. The other prospect on the Hawkeyes was Mitch King who was All-Big Ten and had a big year but only had 2 tackles and his impact wasnt really felt.
For the Gamecocks I was looking at Jasper Brinkley the MLB for South Carolina. Brinkley had a big day tracking down the Hawkeyes with 10 solo tackles and an assist to count in at eleven. Brinkley also had an interception. Expect him to go as a late first day pick or early second day pick from the 2nd to mid 4th round range.
Georgia 24, Michigan State 12
This was the Game featuring Matthew Stafford who is a top 10 pick and in my eyes the #1 Quarterback prospect over Sam Bradford. Stafford has the ideal traits in a quarterback. His arm is as sttrong as you can get, he could go throw for throw with NFL Quarterbacks as proved when he was a counselor at the Manning Passing Camp in the Summer. He has great vision as well, moves through his reads quickly and finds the open man, also has very good feet for a Quarterback on broken plays or good coverage he tucks it down and picks up first downs. The only concern is that sometimes he gets too confident in that arm and starts to try to fit throws that he can't, kind of like Peyton Manning. Stafford showed good poise in the pocket yesterday but played a very non spectacular first half. He threw an interception on a ball that was deflected off of his recievers hands but didn't give up on the play and still made the tackles something that you almost never see out of NFL quarterbacks. After that though he recovered tremendously in the 3rd quarter and capped off a 96 yard drive with a 36 yard touchdown throw. Then Stafford threw a beautifal fade pattern on the sidleine to his tightend for a 21 yard touchdown. Then with a little under 4 minutes remaining and the spartans within 5 Stafford put the game out of reach with a 23 yard strike to Knowshon Moreno to lock it up. Stafford finished with 250 yards, 3touchdowns and an interception on 20 of 31 passing.
The Top Running Back was also in action with Knowshon Moreno playing. Moreno had the touchdown catch to finish with 6 catches 63 yards and a score to go along with 23 carries for 62 yards not nearly living up to the rest of his season. Moreno came out in the second half determined after being noticeably angry on the sideline and was doing good but ultimately didn't do anything for his draft stock. Expect him to go in the first round if he comes out.
